How to Clear Up Your Acne with ZO Skin Health

Acne, breakouts & clogged skin is never fun! If you have been trying to find a solution to get rid of your pimples on the chin, pimples on the forehead & pimples on the jawline but nothing seems to be working - don't worry! We've got you covered! Here's a simple & effective ZO Skin Health skin care plan for you to clear up your acne & say goodbye to your breakouts for good.

First of all - how does acne form?

The root cause of most acne is the production of excess sebum (a waxy, sticky substance), which leads to abnormal shedding of the dead skin cells inside pores. This production of excess sebum can be triggered by stress, changing hormones, heat, sweat, diet, dirty skin & other factors. When there is an abnormal shedding of dead skin cells & these dead skin cells are not promptly cleared from the skin, it forms the painful red & white bumps we call acne, zits, breakouts & pimples.

The best remedy for acne-prone skin is a skin care regimen that cleanses, exfoliates & moisturizes the skin

We want to have an acne skincare routine that first deeply cleanses & exfoliates so that the excess sebum, dirt & other acne-causing bacteria can be removed from the skin. This creates the foundation for our skin to better absorb other skincare products that will soothe, moisturize & brighten.

Having a good replenishing & hydrating moisturizer is also important so that your skin can continuously flush out dead skin cells & regenerate.

With that said... this is why our go-to acne-prone skin solution is the ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Kit & all the incredible medical-grade products it includes to target skin blemishes, pimples & breakouts.

ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Kit

The ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Kit is a comprehensive system designed to prevent & clear breakouts. It features essential ingredients to:

  • Minimize surface oil

  • Exfoliate dead skin cells + purify pores

  • Soothe red + inflamed skin

ZO Skin Health Acne Clearing Skincare Regimen

In this skincare regimen, we also recommend a few other ZO Skin Health products to work with the Complexion Clearing Kit & complete your full acne skincare routine including:

Step 1: Cleanse using the ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser

Since acne is usually caused by bacteria & dirt clogging pores & leading to excess sebum production, we want to begin our anti-acne skincare routine with proper cleansing & exfoliation. The ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser is one of the best exfoliating cleansers to acne-prone skin that leaves your face glowing & feeling SQUEAKY CLEAN. This a gel-like wash, with eco-friendly jojoba beads, that deeply cleanses & removes surface oil. It also purifies your skin to prevent excess sebum that leads to acne.

Use this daily in AM & PM by simply wetting your face & creating a lather of the cleanser all over your face. You can apply in circle motions all over your face & feel the jojoba beads in action going deep into your pores!

Step 2: Tone using ZO Skin Health Complexion Renewal Pads

The ZO Skin Health Complexion Renewal Pads are toner pads that give your skin instant renewal! These toner pads have glycolic acid + 2% salicylic acid to purify skin’s surface & pores and fight bacteria. No matter how much you feel like you've already cleansed & cleaned your face, these toner pads seem to always be able to pick up the unseen residue and TRULY clear your face of acne causing bacteria. It also leaves your face feeling super refreshed!

Use this daily in AM & PM by applying one toner pad each time evenly all over your face.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Exfoliation is an important step to integrate about once a week. The ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish contains micro-fine magnesium oxide crystals that efficiently exfoliate dead skin cells. With dead skin cells removed, you can easily restore glowing skin & smoother skin texture.

Use this about once a week by applying all over the face with some water & then washing it off.

Step 4: Mask

To go even deeper on the skin clearing, we use the ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Masque to further clear debris from pores. This is a clay-based mask that minimizes oil & fights bacteria while mattifiying shiny skin at the same time. You can use this as a spot or full face treatment.

Use this once-twice a week or as needed, applying to the full face or specific areas for spot treatment. Leave on for about 10-15 minutes before completely washing it off.

Step 5: Spot Treatment

When there is a pimple or two that surfaces, it's important to spot treat it immediately as opposed to touching it which can lead to infection. The ZO Skin Health Acne Control is a perfect solution for that. Containing micronized benzoyl peroxide 10% (for acne treatment & prevention), glycerin (hydration retention) & green tea extract (antioxidant), it is a maximum strength acne fighting formula controls surface oil, neutralizes bacteria and prevents future breakouts.

Use this in AM or PM, applying a small amount to affected areas. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed.

Step 6: Moisturize

And finally, as we are using many acne-fighting skincare products that can dry out the skin, we want to make sure we are enhancing our face's moisture & hydration with a greater moisturizer. We recommend the ZO Skin Health Daily Power Defense. This daily moisturizer defends skin against oxidative damage from free radicals, visibly reduces signs of premature aging, accelerates barrier restoration + extended skin hydration & supports continuously healthy skin. It creates an optimal & protective environment for your skin to heal from acne by healing your skin's barrier function.

Apply to clean, dry skin AM and PM.

And that's it for this ZO Skin Health Complexion Clearing Skincare Regimen to help you clear up your acne & restore glowing blemish-free skin.
