Can I Combine Botox with a Chemical Peel like the VI Peel?
Yes, Botox and a VI Peel work very well together. That’s because a chemical peel works at the superficial layers of the skin to treat skin imperfections, remove dead skin cells, and stimulate collagen production to reveal brighter, firmer and glowing skin with improved texture and tone. On the other hand, Botox injections work at the level of the muscle to diminish wrinkles (forehead lines, creases between the brows, crow’s feet). Additionally, each of the two treatments is indicated for different types of skin aging. By combining these treatments we are able to deliver fast, long-lasting results in one simple treatment. Note: the VI peel can also be combined with dermal filler treatments.
What Is the Procedure Like?
Here’s what to expect when you add the VI Peel to your Botox or Filler injectable treatment the same day:
The peel itself is quick and easy. Pain levels should be no more than a 3/10 throughout your treatment making it very tolerable. VI peels are safe for all skin types. In between passes I provide you with a small handheld fan to help decrease pain back to a 0 or 1/10.
You will leave the office looking a bit orange like an “oompa loompa.” My favorite feature of VI Peel is that it comes with a very user friendly aftercare kit which has EVERYTHING you need. There is a VI Peel app as well with easy to follow instructions. 4 hours after the procedure you wipe off the peel and perform aftercare as directed.
What Can I Expect Post Treatment?
Day 1 my skin felt tight and a little bit burny post procedure. It snowed the day I performed my VI peel and the UV rays were extra reflective off the snow. On my drive home I was careful to protect my skin as the sun felt extra hot! SUNSCREEN + HAT!
I started to notice a small amount of peeling before bed on Day 2.
Day 3 I really started to peel. I looked a bit like a reptilian.The peeling started around my mouth and worked its way out. I trimmed the skin around my mouth with scissors. Never pull or pick at the peel, let it gently sluff off or trim with scissors.
By Day 4 the peeling was really mostly on my cheeks and had started to clear.
Day 5 the peeling was mostly around my hairline at this point. I also noticed some purging happening on my lower face/chin.
